Lovejoy's New Varsity Head CoachUpdated Thursday August 3, 2017 by Leopard Lacrosse.
Lovejoy Lacrosse is excited to announce the hiring of Andrew Hodgson as the new Head Coach of our boys’ Varsity High School team and welcome him to the Lovejoy Lacrosse family. Andrew comes to Texas via his hometown of Long Island, New York. Most recently, Andrew served as the assistant coach at Manhattan College, a NCAA Division I program in New York City. He was a highly decorated player at Towson University and at West Islip High School.
“Coming from a hot bed of lacrosse I wanted to take the opportunity to grow the game in a non-traditional lacrosse area,” said Andrew. “The opportunity to build something really special with great people is something that I take pride in being a part of. That’s what attracted me to Lovejoy.”
In addition to his lacrosse experience as a player and coach, Andrew comes from a family with a rich lacrosse background. He will be joined on the Lovejoy coaching staff by his brother, Edward.
“Being the Head Coach and part of the Lovejoy Lacrosse program means a lot to me and my brother as my assistant coach,” said Andrew. “Having the ability to coach with my brother Eddie is a dream come true. It was something we have wanted since we were kids and Lovejoy gives us the opportunity to fulfill that dream. Eddie and I are extremely excited for this opportunity and know that we are going to make Lovejoy a great place to play lacrosse.”
In its search for its new head coach, Lovejoy Lacrosse conducted a nationwide job search. Over the course of a two and half month process, Lovejoy Lacrosse interviewed several qualified candidates from California, Colorado, Florida, New York, Austin, and locally in the DFW Metroplex area. In the end, Andrew stood out from the rest of the field with his energy, passion, and knowledge of the game from having played and coached at the highest level. Andrew will be a great fit at Lovejoy and believe he is the perfect coach to lead Lovejoy’s high school lacrosse program into its next phase of development and competition.
