Letter to ParentsUpdated Wednesday September 20, 2017 by Leopard Lacrosse.
Welcome Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse players and parents!
Thank you for being a part of the Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse family and for your continued support. If you are new to our program, thank you for your interest, we look forward to meeting you soon.
For the benefit of those that are new to the sport, lacrosse is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse – big or small. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse. Lacrosse is considered America’s oldest sport dating back to the early Native Americans.
Lacrosse is currently the fastest growing team sport in the United States. Youth lacrosse has grown over 77% since 2006 to over 400,000 players. In addition, no sport has grown faster at the high school level over the past 10 years. There are now an estimated 282,000 high school players. Lacrosse is also the fastest-growing sport over the last nine years at the NCAA level with more than 600 college teams. There are also more than 500 college club programs in the United States.
The Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse program has also grown considerably over the last few years as the popularity of the sport in North Texas and our community continues to grow. We now have multiple teams at most of our grade levels. All this means we need your help!
It takes a community to create a successful lacrosse program! The Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse program is an ALL VOLUNTEER organization and to make Lovejoy Lacrosse a rewarding experience for everyone we need YOU! As an association still growing, the Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse program needs the continued support and assistance of our families in order to improve, expand, and evolve with each changing season. Our volunteer parents have a lot of fun working with the kids and meeting other lacrosse families.
We encourage ALL parents to get involved, as the success of our program relies on every family doing their part, such as coaching, board members, field maintenance, team parent, spirit wear, fundraising, game day help, special event volunteers, and much, much more. If you see a need or have an interest in helping in any way, please speak to or email any of our Board Members – no experience necessary!
Without the support of the community and our families we would not be experiencing the growth and success we have seen over the last few years. We sincerely thank you for that support and hope to continue in a positive direction as we embark on another season of Lovejoy Lacrosse.
Have questions? Please let us know! All of our Board Members can be reached via email.
We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the field. Please remember the importance of honoring the game.
