ENTIRE 7th/8th BLACK TEAM (week of May 2, 2016)

Congratulations to the entire 7th/8th Black Team, who are this year's DFW Youth Lacrosse League D2 CHAMPIONS!!!!  After finishing the season with a 10-1-1 record, the 7th/8th Black Team entered the 2016 playoffs as the number 1 seed.  In the playoffs, they beat Highland Park's Gold and Blue teams in back-to-back games.  They then beat St. Mark's to advance to the championship game.  In that game, they beat Parish 8-6 to capture the Gold Cup Trophy!!

ENTIRE 7th/8th RED TEAM (week of May 2, 2016)

Congratulations to the entire 7th/8th Red Team, who had a great showing at this year's playoffs and came within one game of advancing to the D3 championship game. The 7th/8th Red Team finished second in their District during the regular season and entered the playoffs as the #5 ranked team. They beat McKinney in the first round of the playoffs in a 6-5 Triple Overtime thriller. They then put on a defensive clinic in a 2-1 win over Colleyville. Their playoff run ended in a close, hard fought semi-final game against Fort Worth.

GARRETT HAAS, CADEN BUCKNER & MAJOR FRIESLAND (week of March 21, 2016)

Garrett Haas, Caden Buckner & Major Friesland (from L to R), who are this week's Players of the Week for the 7th/8th grade teams. Garrett, Caden and Major are the starting Attackmen on the Black Team. This past weekend, the trio combined to score 13 goals and had 13 assists in the team's 19-0 win over Plano East. Throughout the game the trio kept the ball moving and all looked for that one extra pass to their open teammate. Great job guys!!

DREW PEKINPAUGH (week of March 7, 2016)

Congratulations to Drew Pekinpaugh, who is this week's Player of the Week for the 7th/8th grade teams. This past weekend, Drew used the tools he learned in practice leading up to the weekend to help his team to a 7-6 win over Parish on Saturday and a 8-5 win over Denton on Sunday. Drew has become a Defensive Middie specialist. He scooped several groundballs with perfect technique. When he wasn't doing the scooping on GBs, Drew was blocking out an opposing player so his teammate could get the GB. On transitions, Drew was instrumental in helping his team clear the ball from the defensive end to the offensive end quickly and efficiently. Against Parish, his quick transition led to a goal of his own. Against Denton, one of his clears left a defender in the dust (and on the ground) and led to a great fast break pass-pass-goal.

LANDON SNOW (week of February 29, 2016)

Congratulations to Landon Snow, who is this week's Player of Week for the 7th/8th grade teams. Landon is a seventh grader at Willow Springs Middle School. On Saturday, February 27, against Hebron, Landon was the perfect example of a player who has a "team first" attitude. His team was short on players for the game, so Landon stepped up and played every position on the field when needed (other than goalie; but we're sure he would have if asked). Normally an attackman, Landon also played midfield, long stick midfield, defense, and on the man-down defensive unit.  Way to go Landon!!

TREVOR BATASTINI (week of February 22, 2016)

Congratulations to Trevor Batastini (on left) who won 1st Place in his age group at last week's Face Off Academy hosted by Greg "Beast" Gurenlian at D1 Sports in Dallas.  In the first two games of this season, Trevor has won more than 90% of his face-offs.  Way to dominate Trevor!
