Lovejoy Bantam 2nd Graders (week of May 22, 2017)

Congratulations to our Lovejoy 2nd graders who participated in the Texas Elite King of the Hill 3 v. 3 Tournament on May 21, 2017. The boys played hard and made it to the semi-final game of the playoffs. Great job boys.

 

James Zych, Paxton Friesland, Liam McIntosh and Ace Kuzenski (week of October 8, 2016)

Congratulations to James Zych (top left), Ace Kuzenski (top center), Liam McIntosh (top right), and Paxton Friesland (bottom center), who are this week's Players of the Week for the 1st/2nd grade teams. All four boys showed great skills in passing, shooting and teamwork this past weekend in games against Allen and Hebron. The game balls were well deserved.  

 

​Reid Boardmand and Logan Goff (week of October 1, 2016)

Congratulations to Reid Boardman (left) and Logan Goff (right) , who are this week’s Players of the Week for the 1st/2nd grade teams. Both Reid and Logan had outstanding games this weekend in the annual Pink Out tournament in Frisco. Reid and Logan each received a game ball following their game against Coppell. Reid and Logan both scored multiple goals, and more importantly, both showed great energy and sportsmanship.

 

Cade Langford ​(week of September 18, 2016)

Congratulations to Cade Langford who is this week’s Player of the Week for the 1st/2nd grade teams. Cade was awarded the first game ball of the season for the 1st/2nd Lovejoy Lacrosse Team.  Cade is a 2nd grader at Lovejoy Elementary.  While this is his first season playing Lacrosse, he has demonstrated a strong work ethic in each practice. His hard work showed during the games against Rockwall and McKinney this past Sunday. He had multiple shots on goal, but more importantly he helped improve the team through unselfish play by passing the ball to open team members and chasing down every loose ball.

 

Lincoln Mardsen, Cameron Johnson, Finley Wilson, Logan Goff, Spencer Fallas, and Paxton Andrews (week of April 25, 2016)

Congratulations to (clockwise from top left) Lincoln Mardsen, Cameron Johnson, Finley Wilson, Logan Goff, Spencer Fallas, and Paxton Andrews, who are this week’s Players of the Week for the 1st/2nd grade teams.

Spencer Fallas is a 1st grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd White Team. Spencer played a solid game against Rockwell with a great midfield interception on defense. Spencer has made good progress this season and demonstrates good sportsmanship and focus during practice.

Cameron Johnson is a 1st grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd White Team. Cameron’s play continues to improve and has shown good progress on his scooping, cradling, and stick skills.  Cameron always has a positive attitude, a big smile and likes to ask the coaches lots of questions!

Favorite Food:  Fish and Broccoli
Favorite Class:  Math

Favorite Thing About Lacrosse:  Getting Stickers, practice and game balls.
When not playing lacrosse:   he likes to play with friends.

 

Lincoln Mardsen is a 1st grader at Puster Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd White Team. Lincoln’s speed on the field has improved a lot this season where he can cradle down the field and get good shots on goal.  Lincoln is focused during practice with a great attitude, and demonstrates good listening skills.

When not playing lacrosse:  Rollerblade

 

Logan Golf is a 1st grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Black Team. Logan has made big strides this season, using his speed and aggressive play during the games.  Logan never gives up on a play and has been a big help to his teammates.  Logan has worked hard on listening during practice and following the coaches’ instructions.

Favorite Class:  Ms. Moody’s class and recess

Favorite Food:  Steak with A-1 sauce

When not playing lacrosse:  Playing Xbox One and Star Wars Battlefront

 

Finley “Finn” Wilson is a 1st grader and plays on the 1st/2nd Red Team.  Finn has worked hard on his lacrosse skills this season and it shows during the games. This season, he has shown confidence cradling and attacking the goal where he has scored in several games.  Finn always has a big smile for practice and listens to the coaches.

Paxton Andrews is a 2nd grader at Puster Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Black Team. This was Paxton’s first season of lacrosse and he has worked hard on his conditioning and stick skills.  Paxton doesn’t hesitate going after loose balls and has made big progress during this season where he has shot on goal and worked on sliding to the other side on attack.

CALEB HAAS, BEN SUSSMAN, MILO WENTZ, ZANE BROWN, TAYLOR PETTIT AND JAMES ZYCH (week of April 18, 2016)

Congratulations to (clockwise from top left) Caleb Haas, Ben Sussman, Ethan Topchik, Milo Wentz, Zane Brown, Taylor Pettit and James Zych, who are this week’s Players of the Week for the 1st/2nd grade teams.

 

Caleb Haas is a 2nd grader at Puster Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Red Team. Caleb showed very quick feet, tight cradling, and fast dodges this weekend which resulted in a great score in the Red team game. Caleb is making good progress this season where his stick handling is showing great promise! Caleb is another big smiler on the team and no matter how hard the drill is during practice he always looks like he is having fun!

Favorite Food:  Tortillas

Favorite Thing About Lacrosse:  “We are Lovejoy Lacrosse!"

When not playing lacrosse: he likes riding his bike and playing with friends.

 

Ben Sussman is a 2nd grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Black Team. Ben played aggressively with 2 goals and solid midfield play; scooping loose balls, dodging, attacking the goal and backing up his teammates.  Ben listens well and gives full effort at practice.helping the new players line up and even helps the coach set up the field. 

Favorite Food:  Napoli’s Pizza (extra sauce, extra cheese) or a Kelly’s Cattleman Double Burger, finished off with a Braum’s Candy Bar Sunday!!!

Ethan Topchik is a 1st grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd White Team. Ethan was very active this weekend, with solid scooping and dodging. Ethan fired several shots on goal as well. This is Ethan’s first season and he has made BIG progress on scooping and cradling!  Ethan always shows up to practice with a big smile and loves telling the coaches about all the current events of the week!

Milo Wentz is a 2nd grader at Puster Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Black Team. Milo had another solid defensive game where he showed good field awareness on when and where to clear the ball. Milo also had a good clamping face off and played solid midfield.  Milo makes practice fun where he not only does the drills correctly, but plays a mean air guitar with his lacrosse stick!

Favorite Food: Cheeseburgers and mint chocolate chip ice cream

Favorite Class:  Reading

Favorite Thing About Lacrosse:  Playing DEFENSE because it is fun, and he likes to take away the ball and clear down the field. 

When not playing lacrosse:  he likes playing XBOX and Legos

 

Zane Brown is a 2nd grader at Lovejoy Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Red Team.  Zane had a breakout game Saturday with his first goal of the season. Zane also had two great break away runs from midfield where he demonstrated good aggressive play this weekend.  Zane focuses during practice and demonstrates good listening skills while trying his hardest during skill sessions.

Favorite Thing About Lacrosse:  Cradling 

When not playing lacrosse:  he likes playing outside

 

Taylor Pettit is a 2nd grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Red Team. Taylor continues to play solid defense and had two great full field runs with the ball.  Taylor demonstrates a positive attitude and focuses during practice.

James Zych is a 1st grader at Lovejoy Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd White Team. James played tough defense with great field awareness, clearing the ball down the sideline and hustling back to his position. He is also improving his shot speed and scored this weekend!  James listens well during practice and gives it his all!

CONNOR JOHNSON, ADAM KENT, BOONE HARRELL, JAXON MANLEY, BROCK HERTWECK & JONAH WEBBER (week of April 11, 2016)

Congratulations to (clockwise from top left) Connor Johnson, Brock Hertweck, Boone Harrell, Jaxon Manley, Adam Kent, Jonah Webber, who are this week’s Players of the Week for the 1st/2nd grade teams.

 

Connor Johnson is a 2nd grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Black Team. Connor scored multiple goals this past weekend and also demonstrated smart dodging and passing, which led to several goals. Connor continues to demonstrate leadership and teamwork on and off the lacrosse field. Connor is the first one to ask the coaches if they need help with the equipment and also helps his teammates on the field by backing them up for loose balls or being open for a pass.

ADAM KENT is a 2nd grader at Puster Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Red Team. Adam anchored a great defense this past weekend with aggressive checking and smart clearing passes down the field. Adam tries his hardest during practices and demonstrates good sportsmanship and is respectful to the coaches.

BOONE HARRELL is a 1st grader at Firm Foundations school and plays on the 1st/2nd White Team. Boone is a leader on the White Team and excels in cradling, passing, and shooting. Boone listens well during practice and gives his full effort where he lets his solid play anchor the White Team.

JAXON MANLEY is a 2nd grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd White Team. Jaxon continued his solid play this past weekend with aggressive play and timely scooping and shots on goal. Jaxon gives all-out effort during practice and is focused on his drills.

BROCK HERTWECK is a 1st grader at Hart Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Black Team. Brock had a breakout game this past weekend with 3 different breakaway runs where he scooped loose balls at midfield and outran the other team for shots on goal. Brock also shows good defensive checks and pursuit. This is Brock’s first season and he continues to make good progress with his solid play.

JONAH WEBBER is a 2nd grader at Lovejoy Elementary and plays on the 1st/2nd Red Team.  Jonah continues to make progress in his lacrosse skills and practice effort this season. It showed this past weekend where he played tough defense in two games. Jonah protected the crease and checked the ball loose a number of times.

IAN BRADSHAW, PAXTON FRIESLAND, BRODIE COOPER, REID BOARDMAN & DOMINIC RUIZ (week of April 4, 2016)

Congratulations to (pictured from left to right) Ian Bradshaw, Paxton Friesland, Brodie Cooper, Reid Boardman & Dominic Ruiz (not pictured), who are this week’s Players of the Week for the 1st/2nd grade teams.

 

IAN BRADSHAW is a 2nd grader at Puster Elementary. Ian made two great passes this weekend that helped his team score goals. Ian is a fast runner and now is becoming a solid passer.

When not playing lacrosse:  he loves to play on his iPad when at home

 

PAXTON FRIESLAND is a 1st grader at Hart Elementary. Paxton played a great second game Saturday against Prosper and scored two goals with very aggressive bounce shots. Paxton was also recognized for the great lift checks he made during the game.

BRODIE COOPER is a 2nd grader at Hart Elementary. Brodie played a great second game Sunday. He scored on attack, anchored the defense, and played aggressively throughout the game.

REID BOARDMAN is a 2nd grader at Hart Elementary. Reid played a great midfield this weekend where he caught a great pass from Caleb Haas to score from behind X. He also played solid defense with good poke checks.

DOMINIC RUIZ is a 2nd grader at Puster Elementary. Dominic played a very solid game Sunday with multiple lift checks and going after loose balls with good ground scoops.

CONNOR JOHNSON (week of November 9, 2015)

Congratulations to Connor Johnson who is this week's Player of the Week for our Bantam Division (1st/4th Grade).  Connor is a second grader at Hart Elementary. He is a Midfielder on the 1st/2nd grade Lovejoy Lacrosse team.  This past weekend in the Turlaxin' Tournamant, Connor recorded 10 goals, played aggressive defense, and caused multiple turnovers and helped his team to a 2-1-1 record.  Connor's coach says, "Throughout the season, Connor has demonstrated good sportsmanship, consideration for his teammates and opponents, and this weekend was no different."  In addition to lacrosse, Connor likes playing terreria, playing with his friends, riding bikes, camping, and hunting.
