Updated Thursday August 10, 2017 by Lovejoy Leopards Lacrosse.

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in the Lovejoy Lady Leopards Lacrosse program and for visiting our website. We are looking forward to a great lacrosse year!

For a reminder of how much fun we had last year in our inaugural season, check out the pictures from the Spring season at LADY LEOPARD PICTURES

Registration is now open for the girls’ Fall 2017 lacrosse season for the following age groups and grade levels – Kindergarten through 8th grade. To register, just click on the red “Register Online” banner on the home page of our website. (

*If you are have any trouble when registering or you get an error message that says your “email already exists in the system,” then let us know by replying to this email.

Here is some information to help answer the frequently asked questions about registration and the Fall 2017 season.

When does the Fall season start?  How long is the Fall season?

Practices for our Fall season will begin on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. The season will end mid to late November (depending on the player’s team). The Fall season is traditionally the "off" lacrosse season and our teams will play between 4-6 games/scrimmages and play in one local tournament. The number of games/scrimmages in the Fall will depend on the number of players we have and the number of teams that other area programs have in the Fall.

How much are the registration fees for the Fall season?

The fees are:

K / 2nd Grade Team(s):  $160

3rd / 4th Grade Team(s): $210

5th / 6th Grade Team(s): $210

7th / 8th Grade Team(s): $210

High School Team:  TBD

*The plan is to have all of our teams play games and in one tournament in the Fall. However, the Fall season is the “off” season and we understand that several players play other sports in the Fall. In the event we do not have enough players to field a complete team in the Fall and your daughter’s team does not play in games or a tournament and only has practices, then a discount coupon code will be issued to those players to be applied toward the Spring season.

Are there any other additional fees that I’m required to pay?

Yes, but not much. All of our players are required to become a member of U.S. Lacrosse. The fee is $30. U.S. Lacrosse membership is good for 1 year (beginning from the date of original registration). Registration is easy. More information about U.S. Lacrosse membership can be found on their website at:

If your daughter is already a U.S. Lacrosse member in current standing, then there is no need to re-register. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR DAUGHTER’S U.S. LACROSSE MEMBERSHIP IS CURRENT. You will need your daughter’s US Lacrosse membership number and the expiration date when you register with Lovejoy Lacrosse.

On what days do the teams practice in the Fall?  How long are practices?

Practices in the Fall will be on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The practice schedule for each team is:

K / 2nd Grade Team(s):  Wednesday from 6 pm - 7:00 pm; Saturday from 9 am – 10:00 am.

3rd / 4th Grade Team(s):  Wednesday from 6 pm - 7:30 pm; Saturday from 9 am – 10:30 am

5th / 6th Grade Team(s):  Wednesday from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm; Saturday from 9 am – 10:30 am

7th / 8th Grade Team(s):  Wednesday from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm; Saturday from 9 am – 10:30 am

High School Team:  TBA

*Yes, the practice schedule is a little strange this Fall. That’s because of the construction going on at the High School stadium field. We are down to one field that has lights so we had to get creative with the practice schedule for all of our teams in the Lovejoy Lacrosse program. Thank you for understanding and working with us.

**Please note that practice schedules - dates, times, and locations are subject to change depending on the number of girls we have sign up, the number of teams we have in the Fall, field availability, and possible conflicts with other Lovejoy ISD sport teams or school events.

Where do practices take place?

Practices will be at Willow Springs Middle School. If there is a conflict with the field at Willow Springs, you will be notified if practice is going to be cancelled or moved to a different location, which will usually be Sloan Creek Intermediate School or "The Hill" Sentry Lacrosse field on Lucas Rd.

Where are the games played?

Lovejoy home games are played at Willow Springs Middle School or Sloan Creek Intermediate School. Away games can be played at several places in the Dallas / North Texas area.

On what days do the teams play games in the Fall?

Games in the Fall have traditionally been played on Saturdays. However, we may have some games on Sundays, but only if necessary. Dates and times of games for the Fall season will be set by the teams sometime shortly after the Labor Day weekend. Game information will be posted on our website when the information becomes available.

Fall Tournaments

We are planning on playing in one local tournament in the Fall. Tournament play will depend on whether we have enough players to field a team. Details on the tournament will be sent out as soon as the info becomes available.

A couple of the tournaments we are looking into are: (1) Turlaxin Tournament in McKinney on October 21 & 22; and (2) LAXtoberfest in Farmers Branch on October 28 & 29.

My daughter has never played lacrosse before.  Does she need experience to play for Lovejoy?

No. The Lovejoy Lacrosse program welcomes all players. No experience necessary.

To learn more about girls’ lacrosse, please visit  The website was created by Bob McGregor from Colleyville Lacrosse. It is a great site to find out more about girls’ lacrosse. It has information about the rules, equipment, and training drills.

How many Lady Leopard teams will there be?

Registration is open to all Lovejoy area girls in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are hoping to have a girls team at the K-2nd grade level, the 3rd/4th grade level, 5th/6th grade level, and the 7th/8th grade level, and High School. A final determination on teams will be made after the registration process is complete.

For girls in High School wishing to play lacrosse for Lovejoy or if you know of any High School aged girls wanting to play lacrosse for Lovejoy, please contact David Diaz ( We are looking to start a girls’ High School team, but we need to gauge the interest and see if we will have enough girls to start a High School program.

My daughter does not attend a Lovejoy I.S.D. school, but we live in the area, can she play for Lovejoy?

The Lovejoy Lacrosse girls’ teams are open to all girls that attend, that are eligible to attend, and/or could attend any of the LISD schools. So as long as you live in the Lovejoy ISD area, your daughter can play for the Lovejoy Lacrosse club. We have several players that are home schooled or attend a private school, but play for Lovejoy because they live in the area.

Potential players in the Lovejoy Lacrosse Club’s attendance zone reside in the cities/towns of Lucas, Fairview, parts of McKinney, parts of Allen, and parts of Wylie.

What equipment is required to play girls’ lacrosse?

The required equipment for girls’ lacrosse is a girl’s lacrosse stick, goggles, a mouthpiece, and cleats (either soccer or lacrosse cleats).

We have a boy’s lacrosse stick. Can my daughter use it?

No. A girl’s lacrosse stick is different than a boy’s lacrosse stick. Some of the differences between girls’ and boys’ lacrosse sticks include: (1) girl’s sticks are required to have a shallow pocket; (2) girl’s sticks use different stings and do not use mesh; (3) girls’ sticks use different heads; and (4) the length of the girls’ stick can be longer than a boys’ stick.

Where can I buy girls’ lacrosse equipment?

There are several local DFW area lacrosse stores that sell girl’s lacrosse equipment. Some of them are Monkey Sports in Allen, LaxKong in Plano, TeamLAX in Frisco, and Not Just Soccer in Dallas. You can also find used girl’s lacrosse equipment at stores like Play It Again Sports.

We have a few new googles on hand for sale. If you are interested in purchasing a set of these goggles, please let us know by replying to this email.

Does Lovejoy Lacrosse have an equipment loaner program for girls?

At this time, the Lovejoy Lacrosse program does not have player loaner equipment for the girls’ game. We have applied for grants that would allow us to obtain equipment for girls’ lacrosse, which would allow us to begin an equipment loaner program for our girl players.

Team Uniforms & Jersey Number Assignments

All players are required to get a Lovejoy Lacrosse uniform AND a Lovejoy practice pinny. Lovejoy Lacrosse uniforms and practice pinnies are purchased through Team LAX in Frisco. The price for the uniform is $85, which includes a reversible black and white jersey and skirt. The price for the practice pinney is $25. We will instruct Team LAX to open an online store so that uniform orders can be placed.

When ordering – DO NOT INCLUDE a jersey number. LEAVE THAT BOX BLANK, if the box exists. The club will assign the jersey numbers. Every effort will be made to give new players 1 of their 3 preferred jersey numbers. However, we need to make sure there are no conflicts with any of the returning players on the same team. We will let you know your daughter’s jersey number shortly.

Uniforms tend to run on the small side. If you want to try on a sample uniform, you can go to Team LAX to do so. They have samples for your daughter to try on. We highly recommend this so you can make sure to get the correct size. Team LAX is located at: 9201 Warren Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75035; (469) 362-8529

If there is more than one team at my daughter’s grade level, which team will my daughter be on?

If our player numbers allow us to have more than 1 team at a particular grade level, then the players will be placed on a team with other players with the same skill level.  This will be done after a couple weeks of practice and after the coaches have had a chance to work with all the players and conduct their player evaluations.

Will there be a Parent Meeting in the Fall?

Possibly. After registration is closed and we determine how many players and teams we have, we may hold a parent meeting. If so, we will send out the info on the date and time.

My daughter – and I – are new to lacrosse, what can we expect?

Expect to have fun and expect to become hooked on lacrosse.  There’s a reason why lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the United States (and in North Texas).  It’s a fun, exciting, and fast paced sport and every player on the field is involved and active throughout the game.  It’s been said many times, once someone picks up a lacrosse stick and plays the game, they are hooked! Parents love it because the action is non-stop and exciting to watch. Don’t worry if you do not have any lacrosse experience.  Lacrosse is an easy game to learn.

We hope this information helps.  Again, thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in the Lovejoy Lady Leopards Lacrosse program.
